Stress and Your Health: A 4-Part Mini-series

Research continues to show that uncontrolled stress contributes to about 90% of all lifestyle related diseases. To better educate you about this deleterious statistic, this 4-Part mini-series shows you lifestyle practices that can contribute to stress, and some things you can do to manage stressors and prevent diseases.

Episode one discusses the nature of stress, and the physiological impact to vital bodily organs. It also features patients who have experienced chronic diseases as a result of uncontrolled stress.

Episode two continues with the discussion on the nature of stress and its physiological implications. Patients share their experiences how they belief uncontrolled stress contributed to diseases they now experience. Some solutions to managing stressors are discussed.

Episode three begins to look at research-based Mind-Body-Spirit lifestyle practices to manage stressors and prevent diseases. Patients' questions about the scientific mechanisms underlying stress management techniques are discussed and solutions offered.

Episode four looks at managing stressors using research-based spiritual practices.

Heart Health: A Two-Part Mini-series

This two part mini-series looks at simple lifestyle practices that can lead to heart attacks and some things we can do to prevent heart attacks.

On part one, interventional cardiologist, Dr. JayaPal Reddy discusses some of the common reasons why heart attacks are prevalent in America today. He also discusses some common but silent ways in which heart attacks can manifest.

Then, Dr Rashidi discusses alternative approaches to managing blood pressure and ultimately preventing heart attacks. Non-conventional exercises for those who have experienced heart attacks are discussed by Anna Cameroon, RCP from Loma Linda Medical Center Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, and patients share their experiences.

On part two, Registered Dietician (RD) Joy Peterson, shows you how to prepare a quick heart healthy meal within 10 minutes. Ruth and Joy explain simple but confusing principles about healthy eating to manage your blood pressure, preserve the heart and prevent heart attacks.

Usually on the show, we talk with experts throughout the Inland Empire about Mind-Body-Spirit research-based lifestyle practices and disease prevention. But in this 2-part mini-series, our host, Ruth Tanyi talks to people in the streets throughout the Inland Empire about lifestyle practices they belief can contribute to chronic diseases, and lifestyle practices that can prevent these diseases.

In episode one, the focus is on stress. People in the streets describe their thoughts on stress and disease, and the things that are helping them to manage stressors and prevent diseases.

In episode two, the focus is on nutrition and exercise. People in the streets explain their understanding of the relationship between nutrition and disease, wellness, and disease prevention. Adults and children alike talk about exercise and disease prevention, and they share exercise tips that are working for them.

Healthy Eating: A 2-Part Mini-series

Research is showing that over 70% of lifestyle related preventable diseases are related to poor dietary habits. Hence, this two-part series discusses the following seven principles of healthy eating to help you to prevent diseases.

  • Reading food labels
  • Incorporating tips to change eating behavior

Hypertension: A 3-Part Mini-series

High blood pressure or hypertension is a growing problem today in the US. In fact, one in three adults has hypertension or high blood pressure according to the CDC. This 3-part mini-series addresses this growing problem, and discusses natural lifestyle practices to prevent hypertension in the first place and its complications.
In episode one, the risk factors and causes of hypertension are addressed. Patients who have hypertension share their experiences in order to help those at risk to prevent the disease and its complications. Naturopathic doctor, Lena Kian explains some of the reasons why this disease is prevalent today in our society.

In episode two, potential complications that may occur as a result of uncontrolled hypertension are discussed. Ophthalmologist Dr Shivaram and Cardiologist Dr Isaeff discuss complications that are seen in the eye and heart in uncontrolled hypertension; they also share tips on how to prevent these complications.

In episode three, complications in the kidneys as a result of uncontrolled hypertension are discussed by Nephrologist, Dr. Lamin. Lifestyle practices that can prevent kidney complications and minimize suffering in existing complications are discussed.

In episode one, a recap about the original 13-Part series is offered, and the experts discuss the latest in diabetes care, recommendations and prevention.

In episode two, questions from the audience are addressed by each expert, based on his or her area of specialty.

In episode three, questions from the audience continued. This episode concludes the mini-series. In this last episode, the experts offered practical recommendations to prevent diabetes in the first place and its complications.
